ACP ist die Abkürzung für „Autologes Conditioniertes Plasma“. Autolog bedeutet im medizinischen Sprachgebrauch „körpereigen und biologisch“. Conditioniert bedeutet in diesem Zusammenhang aufbereitet. Und das P steht für Plasma, ein Bestandteil des Blutes.
Bei der ACP-Therapie handelt es sich um eine Form der Eigenbluttherapie. Das „Autolog Conditionierte Plasma“ ist also eine speziell aufbereitete Form des Eigenblutes, das in der Schmerztherapie vor allem zur Behandlung von Beschwerden durch Gelenksabnützung (Arthrose), Knorpelverschleiß, degenerative Sehnenverletzungen (Tennisellenbogen, Achillessehnenreizung, usw.) und akuten Sportverletzungen zum Einsatz kommt.
